Official routes, one place
A practical starting point for the documents and digital accounts that make everyday life in Greece easier.
A sensible order to start
Your individual path may differ; use the official service to confirm eligibility.
- 1Confirm your residence route and identity documents.
- 2Obtain AFM and activate Taxisnet where relevant.
- 3Arrange AMKA and insurance when eligible.
- 4Use KEP, myKEPlive or the competent authority for remaining steps.
AFM and initial Taxisnet access
AFM is the Greek tax identification number. Use Gov.gr to start the application and complete identification online or at a tax office.
- 1Prepare identity and contact details.
- 2Choose video identification or a tax-office appointment.
- 3Keep the confirmation and activate credentials.
Taxisnet credentials
Taxisnet opens tax and many public-administration services.
- 1Use AFM, ID, IBAN and registered mobile where required.
- 2Receive the pass key through the official process.
- 3Return to Gov.gr to activate the account.
AMKA and social insurance
AMKA supports insurance, e-prescriptions and eligible healthcare access.
- 1Check the route matching nationality and residence status.
- 2Visit KEP or e-EFKA with the required documents.
- 3Keep insurance details aligned with tax and work records.
Residence and address
The route depends on nationality, reason and duration of stay.
- 1EU citizens staying over three months should check registration.
- 2Other nationals should use the matching Migration Ministry route.
- 3Use Taxisnet and address evidence for a residence certificate.
Prepare a clean document folder.
Bring originals and copies only when the authority requests them.
- Valid passport or national ID, plus copies if requested.
- Residence, visa or asylum documents where applicable.
- Greek address evidence, such as a lease or utility document.
- Active email, mobile number and IBAN when required.
- Official translations or apostilles only when specifically requested.
